My Yoga Background
In the thick of chaos, sadness, happiness, and every emotion that comes to mind, practicing Yoga keeps me grounded. It helps me create the balance I need when external life factors are most heightened.
There are so many facts backed up by science that explain the benefits of Yoga, but what I’ll be sharing is my personal experience practicing yoga and the ways I have seen it benefit my life. Some of these may naturally align with those facts while others will be new or maybe
For more context, I began practicing yoga on and off over 6 years ago but in the past 9months, I’ve rooted this as a staple to my morning routine. This means that I practice yoga about 5 days per week pretty regularly each month.
Motivation to Practice Yoga
In the morning when all I wish to do is snooze, I simply think about the feeling Yoga brings to me while I’m practicing but also that fulfilling feeling after completing a session and this usually gets me out of bed. During my session, I usually catch myself so incredibly focused that I forget about the real world. This helps me stay present and reduces any worries I have for the future. When I finish my yoga practice, I spend a few minutes setting my intention for the day, I pray and I vocalize what I’m most grateful for. Once I’m done with this 15-30min routine, I feel so much more level headed, balanced, calm and prepared to begin my day. It is such a refreshing feeling to be in control of how I choose to approach my day.

These are simply the 21 benefits I tracked throughout my yoga sessions in April along with some of the classes I took. It was such a fun experience digging deeper into my WHY for practicing Yoga. I know this is not the answer to everyone’s needs but I hope this snippet of my favorite morning routine encourages you to find what works for YOU. Who knows, maybe it’s something you’ve already been doing all of your life but all you need to do is make it a more consistent part of your life.
