Fitness & Nutrition
Fitness and eating healthy has been part of my life since I was a little girl. This doesn’t mean I eat super clean 100% of the time or that I’ve dedicated my life to fitness. What I mean, is that I’ve naturally gravitated towards a healthier and active lifestyle since I was a kid. Whenever I would get upset at my parents or family, I would go on runs around the neighborhood or lock myself in my room and release my emotions through little work outs I remembered from PE class. When I tried new foods, I genuinely seemed to enjoy the simpler cleaner meals that weren’t very accessible in my home or school. Throughout college, when I became more aware that I truly enjoyed fitness and nutrition, I pushed myself to stay active and to eat healthy but honestly, I struggled. My work and school consumed my time around the clock so I found myself constantly sacrificing this part of my joy. However, as soon as I graduated from graduate school (3 years ago), I made sure these two things would become a more integrated part of my lifestyle. I’ve learned that our fitness and nutrition journey has to change at every chapter of our lives. I don’t expect that the same workouts I’m doing now will work when I have a baby (postpartum) nor do I expect to be eating the exact same food I’m eating now when I turn 50 (because I aim to evolve my knowledge on these categories by then). We have to think about these components of our life as a “Lifestyle” not a diet or aggressive workout burden just to build abs. If getting abs or simply losing weight is your only goal, you may find yourself right back where you started. Try thinking of these as constants in your life. Just like you wouldn’t survive a day without breathing, I encourage you to find space where fitness and nutrition become a simple necessity in your life.
